At Greyhorse Vineyard, we offer you the unique opportunity to participate in the full spectrum of vineyard activity - from bud break through final harvest. This is not a guided tour, but rather a "hands on" vineyard experience where you will assist owners Jim and Cindy Ragni with bringing the crop to harvest. Come join us!
Each segment of the grape-growing season has specialized tasks associated with it. Depending on the annual growth cycle, you may participate in:
Cane pruning
Shoot positioning
Crop reduction
Leaf thinning
Harvest, and more
We want you to experience the real world
of grape growing rather than just hear about
it. Plan on spending two to two-and-a-half
hours with us, about two-thirds of that time
with the vines. Upon your arrival,
we'll spend some time getting acquainted,
discussing the day's planned activity and
reviewing background information on how this
growing season is progressing. There
is no set script, there are no lectures,
the group is small, and the technical jargon
is kept to a minimum. (That way, we don't
get confused!) This is not a course
in viticulture, but a chance to have fun
and experience what a day in the vineyard
is all about. Take time to admire the
red-tail hawks soaring overhead…listen for
the ring-necked pheasants calling to each
other…relax, and enjoy your day!
We will conclude with a complimentary glass
of Oregon Pinot Noir, or an optional behind-the-scenes
winery tour with lunch. We also can
direct you to local wineries and activities
to complete your adventure in wine country
on your own.
We also offer free digital photos of you
in the vineyard to show friends and family
back home. Just provide us with your email
address at the time of your visit.
